Off Leash Dog Areas in West Seattle

Orson_2A BDB Reader emailed me this afternoon wanting to know if anyone knows of attempts for petitions for off leash dog areas in Lincoln Park.

She would like to know if anyone is " has knowledge of past attempts or is interested in championing the cause"?

If anyone has any information on this, please comment on this post or email me.

Update:  We are getting some interest in a leash free zone for Lincoln Park   If you leave a comment with your email address (you’re prompted to), then others who are interested in this cause, can contact you.   If you do not want your email address on this blog, then simply send me the email and I can post your comments under my email address instead.

Pogo is found!

Beach Drive Blog, i.e. neighbors looking out for each other, has helped getting another pet back to it’s home.

Thank you..the blog already found him..some one was walking on Jacobsen found him out of the yard and took him to the animal shelter. they saw the notice on the blog and called us and we will go get him in the morning.  Thanks again!

If you find a missing pet, please feel free to send us an email, in addition to what ever else you’re doing to find the pet’s home.   BDB is more than happy to post the lost pet looking for their humans or vice versa.

Missing Black Lab

Pogo is a 12 year old black lab with a little bit of white on both front paws.  He’s on medication for seizures and needs to be back with his family who lives on Jacobsen.   Please contact them by email.

Update:  Pogo has been found!

New Listing on Beach Drive

Okay…I am NOT a real estate agent, but I do live in the neighborhood and I’m in the real estate business (mortgage).    So I’m naturally nosey about the real estate in our area.    I’ve been noticing one of the homes getting spruced up lately and wondered if it was going on the market…sure enough!  It’s a cutey…listed for $495,000 (MLS#27034408).

I just happened to notice an a-board sign on the street this afternoon (while I was spring cleaning my garden).   Minutes after it was set out, the home was swarming with interested parties.   I even saw a couple run to see it!   The sign post is not in yet…it was amazing to watch the potential buyers checking out this home.

Spring Fever Fix

Winter was so harsh on our garden!  With today’s nice weather…I had no choice but to "dig in" and plant some sunshine in our pots.

Before:   Pretty sad way to greet our guest at the front door.   I was able to save the fushia (at least there are some green starts on the plants) which the hummingbirds loved last year.   And I think the Dusty Miller is still alive (can you kill Dusty Miller?).

After: Img_4907  Instant sunshine!    While at West Seattle Nursery, I noticed that they are having an Art and Garden Show beginning on March 31.   They are looking for artist…if you’re interested contact Marsha.

Have You Heard the Beato?

Reastaraunt blog UrbanDish says Beato in West Seattle is neato.   What sez’ you?

Update:  Beato continues to get outstanding reviews.

And the Storm Is….

…the National Weather Service has named the storm from December 2006:  (drum roll please) . . . .  "The Hanukkah Eve Windstorm of 2006".

Apparently, the National Weather Service put all 8000 entries into a hat and drew Burien resident Clyde Hill’s entry as the winner.   39 other contestants suggested the same storm name.

March 3, 2007 update.   Seattle Time’s article is pretty funny about the storm.   Someone suggested naming it after his ex-wife!

It Just Started Snowing

We’ve definitely had our share of wacky weather!   It all ready looks like the snow is turning into rain…at least, that’s what I’m hoping!

Wookie is Home!

A week and a half ago, BDB reported on a lost cat, Wookie.   I’m pleased to announce that Wookie has been reunited with his family.

Wookie disappeared Sunday Feb 11 after we had inadvertently left him out alone while we all went out for the day. He had a name tag with our phone number. After posting all the houses in the neighborhood the mail lady and all telephone poles we put an ad in the Times then on BDB. The animal shelters had no report on him dead or alive. Tuesday Feb 20 we left on vacation with heavy hearts. Monday morning Feb 26 we got a call from our next door neighbor about a skittish cat they could not get a good look at who had been living under their hot tub for a few days…. We returned as scheduled that night to find a very dirty smelly and skinny Wookie name tag still in tact.
We have been enjoying a very happy reunion as our dog and and children had become quite attached since we got Wookie Aug 9th as a birthday present.  Thanks for your help!

Welcome home, Wookie!

Snow?

I’m just returning from a quick drive to take my son to school and…SNOW!  I  began to see flakes at Fauntleroy Hall and the snow became heavier at 35th.   Down on Beach Drive, snow is absent (thankfully).  However, I did hear on the weather report this morning that we could have snow at sea level late tonight and early tomorrow morning.
