One-Eyed Willy

One-Eyed Willy greeted us today demanding peanuts.   Willy is a squirrel with, yep you guessed it, one eye.    Our two outdoor cats made a run for the safety of the interior of our home and would not mess with this squinting battle hardened critter.

Several Seattle area restuarants will be doing a fund raiser on April 3, 2007 for Dafur through Mercy Corps.      The restaurants in West Seattle include:

Good food for a good cause.   Cheers!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Dsc_0347_2Okay…he’s not a Leprechaun (he is wearing green pants)…and I did spy him on Beach Drive in a neighbor’s yard.   And I’m sure he’s good luck for us on this St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patty’s Day  officially begins in West Seattle at Celtic Swell on March 16th at 10:00 p.m.   A pint of Guinness anyone?

Don’t miss the Irish Heritage Club Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade beginning at 12:30 on Saturday along 4th Avenue in Seattle.

May your neighbors respect you, trouble neglect you, the angels protect you, and heaven accept you.

Corked!

On Wednesday, we received a couple bottles of wine and were surprised to find that each bottle was corked.   We contacted the winery and they told us they’ve been having very warm weather in Napa this past weekend.   There was an issue with UPS and apparently, their wines sat a day in a very warm warehouse.

Just a reminder with the weather warming up, if you’re ordering wines, you may want to have the winery hold the wine until it’s cool enough for shipping.   This was just a fluke and the winery says they will re-ship our order.    And, of course, to always inspect you wine as soon as you receive it.    Cheers!

Art Show at Endolyne Joe’s

Explorer West Middle School is featuring an exhibit of ceramic masks based on Mexican mask design at Endolyne Joe’s.    I understand some of the art is even available for purchase!   The show runs from March 15 – June 12, 2007.

Do you have information about a school event?  I’m happy to post it on BDB…and even happier if you would like to post it (wink wink).   Just send me an email.

Whale Seen?

While walking my pug at Mee Kwa Mooks this morning, a fellow dog walker mentioned to me that yesterday, around 1:30 in the afternoon, a woman had spotted a whale out by Blake Island.   Has anyone else seen a whale passing by?

You can either stay up (or wake up)  to the wee hours or just set your clocks forward one hour on Sunday at 2:00 a.m. or do so before you go to bed tonight.

Beach Drive Earth Art

If this is the same artist from Valentines Day, then I can tell you a little more about this creative genius.    Apparently this neighbor is a 28 year old gentleman who "is inspired by a love for the natural world… he just wants people to get out, appreciate the outdoors, and talk to one another."

This art can be enjoyed along Mee Kwa Mooks Park, near where his previous art was displayed.   Happy Friday!
