Comments

Check out Chuck’s comments on his recent experience at Beato.    I wish I could figure out how to have the Comment Section on Beach Drive Blog show at least a "teaser" portion…if anyone out there is an expert with Typepad blogs (the platform that I’m using for BDB), please let me know.    Since we currently don’t have teaser comments…I’ll give you a little tease from Chuck’s review:

"I would definitely save room for the chocolate ravioli….The wine list is excellent…."

The Comment Section is on the left, just under where you can subscribe to email updates from BDB.

If you click on the link that has the title the post, it will take you to that post and  you can read the commentary from readers.   And by the way, blogs love to have comments so, as Bob says, don’t be bashful!

Bob says “Don’t be Bashful”

Dsc_0684_2 Bob is in search of new writers for the Beach Drive Blog.   He says it’s very simple to write for a blog.  Here are few tips from our friend, Bob on blogging:

1) It’s really no different than writing an email to your friend or neighbor.

2) The post does not have to be long.

3) You can add links to other information that is relevant to your message…or not!

4) Beach Drive Blog can either set you up as a guest author (which is very simple to do).   Just ask!

5) Or you can just submit your message or article directly

6) Photos are optional.   You can email it with your article and I will enter it in your post.

7)  Check out the categories (above left) for some possible ideas of what to write.

Here are some quick ideas for a post on Beach Drive Blog:

  • Garden tips
  • Community events
  • Upcoming garage or yard sales
  • School events
  • Block watch/crime reporting
  • History of Beach Drive or homes along Beach Drive
  • Poetry
  • Restaurant reviews
  • Parks along Beach Drive
  • Announcements (weddings….new babies…. etc.)

So come on…dive in!  It’s a splash.   The more writers, the merrier!

Public Safety Newsletter from Seattle Police Department

Published on March 2, 2007, here is a link to read the two page Safety Newsletter.   It is packed with very important information about safety.

Here are some facts, trends and security tips on home burglaries from the newsletter:

  • Burglaries most often occur between 11:00 a.m.  – 4:00 p.m.  when most people are at work.
  • Burglaries when the home is occupied, are rare.   The thieves do not want to encounter anyone.    They want to get in and get out with your goods.
  • Common points of entry include open/unlocked bathroom or kitchen windows and unlocked doors.    Ground level or basement windows and back/side doors are also popular.
  • Do not open your doors to strangers.   When someone comes to the door, answer the door without opening it even if you are expecting someone.    Notify your neighbors if you suspect someone strange is going door to door (this is a good reason to get our "neighborhood list" complete).

Spring in Seattle means Cherry Blossoms and Rain

And…with the temps dipping down into the 30’s over the next week…I’m a bit concerned I might have been too anxious in dragging my bougainvilleas and other wintered plants out of the garage last weekend during a "warm moment" outside.    "Eh-gads", as my Grandma Esther would say!

West Seattle Pet Rodeo

Do you have an extra talented pet?  Or do you or your pet share some resemblance?

Maybe you should enter the West Seattle Pet Rodeo and Snooty Walk.   This event will take place on April 21, 2007 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. at Hiawatha Park

No mean dogs or angry cats are allowed!

For more information, contact stcodling@seattleschools.org

Our family will not have any entries in this competition…our most talented pet once won a MySpace contest for being white…that’s where our talent ends!

Pet Food Recall

DogsJust in case you’ve missed this in the news…Menu Foods has a massive recall on dog and cat food.    Animals are dying from kidney failure due to a suspect wheat gluten.   Many of the foods are "high end" moist foods and I know this doesn’t relate directly to our neighborhood…but we all love our cats and dogs.

Here is an article from the Seattle Times and a link to Menu Foods for recall information.   There are 42 different brands of cat food and 51 types of dog food that are being recalled.   If your pet is showing any signs of sickness, please get them to your vet as soon as possible.
