What a Difference a Day Makes

We went from a sunny Sunday to a blustery Monday with a chance of snow in the forecast.  That’s a drop of 20 degrees in just one day!   Luckily we’re past our high tide today and tomorrow looks more calm (including a possible morning snow shower).

Bad Bad Bouy…another one on the loose

This bouy is floating unattached along the 4700 area of Beach Drive about 75 feet off shore.  Is it yours?   It’s not the same one from a few days ago.  This one appears a little smaller.   Update:  the bouy is now passing Emma Schmitz Memorial Park and is quickly heading north.

Illusions Hair Design Review

West Seattle Blog recently announced that Illusions Hair Design is one of their new sponsors (I’m a proud WSB sponsor as well).   I like to support the West Seattle community and was tired of driving to Southcenter for my hair cuts…so I thought would be a good opportunity.

I’m just returning home from Illusions after meeting with Nancy and I’m VERY pleased.   She actually listened to what I wanted from my hair cut (my former stylist, who very nice, had a set idea of what he wanted my hair to look like and would not trim it shorter).  They are professional and friendly…and did you know they are a "no tip" salon?    And they offer free bang trims in between your regular hair cuts.   I also appreciate how committed they are to our community.

What is your favorite West Seattle salon?  We certainly don’t have a shortage of Beauty Salons and Barber Shops in West Seattle…even the pets are well covered in the grooming and care departments!

Brown House Update

This house doesn’t even need an address…it’s just known as "the brown house".   Since I was photographing the bungalow tear down on Beach Drive, I thought I’d check out the latest notes posted on the infamous "brown house".

Img_6243

Good news…the home has been winterized!  It is still sitting there all boarded up waiting for it’s destiny of being torn down to emerge from the wreckage as shiny new townhomes!    At least the mattress window coverings are gone and the garbage in the front has been removed.

Img_5008_2Hopefully the sign in the window dated December 20, 2007 means that they are progressing with this poor old home.

I think it’s safe to say that this is a tear down the locals have been waiting for.

Gone in a Flash

The bungalow at 3726 Beach Drive has been reduced to a pile of rubble and debris.

I wish I had a photo of the home when she was in her glory.   The only one I have is after it was tagged with a yellow sign, abandoned to be torn down.   West Seattle Blog has a series of photos documenting this tear down that are amazing.

Hay, they’re finally going to start the tear down

That’s a bit of sarcasm you’re sensing, I’m not thrilled about this tear down (although I’m ready for that brown house to go).    I’m not sure why I like this house…I guess it just reminds me of where a sweet Grandma would have lived.

One less Seattle bungalow…one more townhome (4 units).

Are you missing your buoy?

There is a large buoy that seems to be drifting in front of Emma Schmitz Memorial View Point approx. 100 yards off shore.

The buoy is continuing to journey north….a possible casualty of our windy weather?  If you have a large buoy, you may want to take a peek to make sure it’s still where it’s suppose to be.

Sailboats, Seal and a Rainbow

Photo’s from yesterday.  (I was too busy watching the Seahawks to post this unti now).  Way to go Hawks!

This seal was leaping north towards Alki.  You can barely make it out in the bottom right corner of the photo below.  I was snapping like crazy hoping for a better shot.Dsc_0100

Who doesn’t enjoy seeing a rainbow?
