A true sign of Spring in Seattle

I actually took this photo earlier this month.  When I see Brants along Puget Sound, I believe Spring in near.

Comcast Issues

I know at our home, we've been experiencing issues with our internet since late yesterday (that we're aware of since some football game was on).

I've been on the phone off and on with Comcast today and apparently in the Beach Drive/Alki area (they don't give you a specific area) they have been experiencing technical issues.

The supervisor I spoke with from Comcast stated that they have technicians going door to door today to try to get this resolved.

Let me tell you, it's no fun being a "blogger" and not having your internet!

Part of Beach Drive Closed due to Landslide

While checking my emails this morning, I caught a message from my sister asking if we're okay…she heard there's a landslide on Beach Drive via the news.  Of course the first thing I did (since we're fine) was to check West Seattle Blog and they do report that the 6000 block of Beach Drive is closed due to a response from a landslide.

If you have any photos, please be sure to forward them.

Update:  Here is Fox Q13's report.   From their photo, the slide looks pretty small–let's hope it stays that way.

Hit and Run at Jacobsen and Beach Drive

A motorcyclist was struck by a van this afternoon.  The van fled up Jacobsen and some witnesses followed them.  I understand the police may have one person in custody.   The motorcyclist has been transferred via ambulance to a hospital and it looks like he should be okay.

For more information, check out West Seattle Blog–I believe they will be posting more infomation soon (if they haven't all ready).

Do we need a stop light at that intersection?

Update:  here's a little information posted on Seattle PI's blog: Seattle 911

Police said a section of Beach Drive was contained after the man, who is bald man, and was wearing black pants and a black hoodie, was seen running through a yard. He was reportedly hiding between two houses and was taken into custody at 2:07 p.m

A gentleman I talked to at the scene who had followed the van when it took off up Jacobsen thought he saw two men flee the van.

Comment Question from a Beach Drive Blog Reader

I received this question on an earlier post this week:

Thanks for keeping us all posted…what is the crazy photo to the left of my name? Where did that come from? It looks like wires all twisted up. I have no idea where that is coming from as I have not posted a photo on your blog. Can you please explain?

When you comment on Beach Drive Blog, you have the option of using Twitter, Facebook or Typepad for logging in when you comment on an article that has been posted here (also called a "post" in blogging terms).

If you do not log in with one of these accounts or you do not upload a photo, that's perfectly fine.   Instead of showing a photo of you (or what ever  you have uploaded to represent you); an "avatar" will appear.   The avatars are random and with Typepad, currently appear as a bunch of squiggly lines or "wires all twisted up".

This is a newer feature with Typepad blogs (the platform I use for writing with Beach Drive Blog and my other blogs) to help promote readers/commenters to be more connected.   Again, it's totally optional on your part whether or not you want to participate.

Happy Thanksgiving from Beach Drive Blog

Seattle City Light at Jacobsen and Beach Drive

It appears Seattle City Light is doing some re-wiring.

Live History Talk and Walk at Me-Kwa-Mooks Park

The Log House Museum and Sowthwest Historical Society are sponsoring a fun event on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Park, 4503 Beach Drive SW, West Seattle.

Alan Schmitz and the Olmsted Society will give the history of the Schmitz family land that became a gem of a park on Beach Drive.

No reservations required and of course donations are appreciated.

I had the pleasure of hearing Alan at Me-Kwa-Mooks Park last year–he's a delight.

For more information, please call the Log House Musem at 206-938-4293.
