The Log House Museum and Sowthwest Historical Society are sponsoring a fun event on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Park, 4503 Beach Drive SW, West Seattle.

Alan Schmitz and the Olmsted Society will give the history of the Schmitz family land that became a gem of a park on Beach Drive.  

No reservations required and of course donations are appreciated. 

I had the pleasure of hearing Alan at Me-Kwa-Mooks Park last year–he's a delight.

The Beach Drive Blog Community Forums is a great place to promote yourself.   I recommend using your profile page.  Here's what my profile currently looks like:

On the profile page, you have the ability to add links/feeds to your blog or Twitter account.  You can upload photos or videos.  If you click on the "add profile apps" link (it's under my photo above)…you'll be amazed at all the stuff you can do.

Check it out and be sure to invite fellow Beach Drive Neighbors to the community forums.  It is a "members only" site (not public) for the neighborhoods along Beach Drive.

In years past, this garden has been open on Mother's Day from noon to 5:00pm and then re-opens starting on Sunday's in June.  This amazing site is located in the backyard of 5407 37th Avenue SW, Seattle.   My Grandpa Boots worked with rocks when he was alive…but nothing quite like this!

I did not feel the earth quake at 5:20 this morning.  But the 4.5 magnitude located by Kingston was enough to wake up my husband (who then woke me up).

Libby Carr was kind enough to send us this nudge tonight:

"Just want to remind everyone that there are only 2 days left to get in your orders for inscribed bricks to be placed in the new Alki Statue of Liberty Plaza!  Orders must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2008.  The PayPal link at the Urban Sparks website will be disabled at midnight on New Year's Eve."
