FREE Twin Bed Head Boards (gone)

Update:  Going…Going…they’re GONE!

Two twin bed head boards FREE.   They are sitting outside along Beach Drive just south of Jacobsen.  First come, first serve.  They are in as in condition (which is pretty good).

This set includes the wood base, foot board and head board.

Missing Cat: Have You Seen Tigger?

Dsc_0020_2

Please call Dan and Kirsten at 206-779-8419.  I called to confirm that Tigger is still missing after noticing this sign along Beach Drive.

Missing Pet Resources

Possible home prowler

I was just chatting with a Beach Drive neighbor on the 4600 block who told me about a situation we should all be aware of.  Apparently the week before Halloween, she was washing her windows on the back side of her home when she noticed that someone had tried to pry open her windows with a tool, such as a screw driver.

She also made me aware of aggressive magazine sales people recently going door to door.   She has ordered a "no solicitation" sign…I’ll find out where she’s ordering it from and update this post.

Just a reminder for us to keep an eye out for each other.   If you have neighborhood crime you wish to report, please call 9-1-1 first…but do let BDB know so we can keep each other informed on the the lookout.

Young Eagle or Osprey?

I really can’t tell…I’m not an expert.  I just happened to spy this bird when I was walking my dog a few moments ago.

Two Units Proposed to be Five on Beach Drive

Last month I reported on a tear down on 3636 Beach Drive SW that surprised me.   I do try to visit most of Beach Drive and keep an eye out for those yellow yard signs.   That one I missed completely.

My neighbor, aka Cat Woman, brought to my attention a Notice of Application regarding this project.    Here is a link to the application compliments of the Seattle Department of Planning and Development.   The subdivision of lots is still pending approval and the city is hearing comments until November 11, 2007.

Another update on 3726 Beach Drive…the 1918 cottage looks like it will indeed become 4 unit property.   Here is a link to the decision.   The tearing down has not commenced on this old home yet.

Windsurfing the Storm

A veteran of 24 years of windsurfing and years on the Gorge, Jeff Beck, Seattle professional photographer, windsurfs in the storm of October 18, 2007, off of Lowman Beach Park.  The wind was powerful, and Jeff snapped a boom while sailing.  Jeffbeck11_2

Photograph by neighborhood windsurfer, Ron Sterling, who lives on the south border of Lowman Beach Park.   Ron says "I’m not up the level of windsurfing that 40 mph winds require, but you will see me off Lowman Beach Park just about any day the winds are above 12 mph and below 30. I’ve been at it for two and one-half years."

See picture below of Ron Sterling on a recent 18 mph day off Lowman Beach Park.

Editors note:  Thanks to Ron Sterling for sharing his photos and stories with Beach Drive Blog readers.   I look forward to his future contributions.

Car Prowlers on Beach Drive

I just received an email alerting neighbors about an incident that took place around midnight on October 30, 2007. The police were called.

The prowlers may have been driving a white older Mazda sedan and they were looking in cars with flash lights and trying door handles.

This took place around the 5200 block of Beach Drive.

Please remember to lock your car doors and do not leave anything of value inside your vehicle. It also helps to keep your home well lit inside and outside.

If you notice a prowler, call the police ASAP.
