Another Beach Drive Teardown

The Barn Swallows, I’ve been writing about, have been living in a home that looks like is a flip on Beach Drive.   Today, some of the people who have been doing a few of the improvements on this property re-appeared to weed and tidy up the listing and in the process, removed their nest.

I know it’s not quite a tear down on a human scale.  I’m just listening to the birds chirp like crazy right now wondering what on earth happened to their humble home.   Hopefully it was time for the Barn Swallows to move on anyhow.

Update:  here is a great link contributed by a Beach Drive neighbor: http://www.zoo.org/factsheets/barn_swallow.html

3 Day Breast Cancer walk NOT on Beach Drive

Not this year…sorry neighbors.  The route for the 3 day walk has just been announced and we are not on the map.  The organizers are trying to give all neighborhoods a chance to enjoy this event.  This year the route will be starting at Bellevue Community College, going along Greenlake and then back to the eastside.

Maybe next year?

Missing Pet of the Week Photo

Boy…. I feel bad… I know someone emailed me last week with a Beach Drive Pet of the Week nomination and I’ve misplaced it.

I’m so sorry!  I was on vacation last week house boating with our family on Lake Roosevelt and somehow I’ve lost the email in the hundreds I receive from my "day job".

Can you please resend the photo?  Now that I’m back to reality (off vacation) and managing my email–I should be able to get your cute Beach Drive pet posted.

Summer’s so over-rated

NOT!

Lot’s of thunder rolling around West Seattle right now along with a nice summertime down pour of wet rain and hail.

They Grow Up So Quick!

The Barn Swallow chicks (are they called chicks?) next door are all ready out growing their nest.  In fact, they look like they’re almost as big as Mom and Dad.   Before you know it, they’ll have flown the coop.  *sigh*
