Two West Seattle homes destroyed by fire yesterday

Two West Seattle families completely lost their homes yesterday from a devastating fire. Another home was damaged by the same 2-alarm fire as well.

If you are interested in donating, two “crowd funding” sites have been set up for the two families. Click here for Tom and Mary and here for Amy and John‘s fundraising sites.

UPDATE: Another crowd funding site has been added for the other home that was involved with fire. Click here for Ellie and her husband.

From West Seattle Blog:

Three Morgan Junction food/beverage establishments – Peel & Press, The Bridge, Beveridge Place Pub – will be donating a percentage of proceeds on Tuesday, according to Dan from P & P.

Obliteride to race through Beach Drive

Support your local Veterans

We just received this email from the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 160

On Veterans Day, November 11, 2012, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 160 is hosting a spaghetti dinner that is free for veterans and their families.

We are also holding a donation drive on November 11 from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm to collect items that will be used to create care packages for a group of JBLM soldiers who recent deployed to Afghanistan, who have been adopted by American Legion Post 160 and Auxiliary Unit 160.  Donation suggestions include, but are not limited to:  toothpaste, shaving cream, soap, non-perishable snacks (beef jerky, cookies, sunflower seeds, etc.), and coffee.  Any cash donations will be used to purchase care package items and/or pay for shipping charges.

Both events will be held at American Legion Post 160, located at 3618 SW Alaska Street in West Seattle.  Please contact the Auxiliary at ALAUnit160@gmail .com with any questions.

This is a great opportunity to show our gratitude to those who have served our country.

Don’t Forget to Stamp Out Hunger

2011-05-14_11-21-18_410 Today's the day to leave canned goods for your mail carrier to pick up in the blue plastic bags they gave out last week for their annual Stamp Out Hunger campaign.

Please help me! I’m going to be locked up at Angelina’s to raise funds for MDA!

MDAI'm scheduled to be "locked up" to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on April 7, 2011 at Angelina's Trattoria in West Seattle.

While I have no idea who the special person was who nominated me to this event, I do know that I'm tasked to raise $2,000 to help King County families.

Please help "bail me out" by making a donation (click here).  Every donation counts and I appreciate your support for this important cause.

Thank you!
