Kingfisher on the Roof

One of the many benefits of living in our small corner of the world is the beautiful scenery and wildlife.   "Bob the Seal" is still hanging around just south of Emma Schmitz Memorial  Park and I just spied this Kingfisher perched on my neighbors roof.   He flew away right when I began to open my window for a clearer shot.Dsc_0108_3

Seal of Approval

Is there anything cuter?  Okay…maybe Otters are close…I just have not been lucky enough to photograph one.

Sailboats, Seal and a Rainbow

Photo’s from yesterday.  (I was too busy watching the Seahawks to post this unti now).  Way to go Hawks!

This seal was leaping north towards Alki.  You can barely make it out in the bottom right corner of the photo below.  I was snapping like crazy hoping for a better shot.Dsc_0100

Who doesn’t enjoy seeing a rainbow?

Local Author in Seattle Metropolitan Magazine

Our very own Suky Hutton has a terrific article in the January 2008 issue of Seattle Metropolitan Magazine about the mysterious white rooster who was also featured on Beach Drive Blog.

It’s a very enjoyable read and I highly recommend you pick your copy today and check out the SeaTown Diary section with Suky’s article and learn more about Coner the white rooster of Mee Kwa Mooks Park.

Hat tip to Larry for giving me a heads up about our Beach Drive Neighbor.

Kingfisher and a Moon Setting photos

Dsc_0040 This fine feathered fella often sits on our deck and has been very tricky to get a photo of.

Dsc_0056 I’ve been pretty busy over this holiday season…so I’m just catching up with various favorite photos now.

Happy New Year!

You’re going to think I quacked up!

I know…more duck photos.   There’s just been some great photo ops lately.   Check out this fellow grubbing for food.   These photos are from December 16.

Like water off a duck’s back

What kind of duck is this fine feathered friend?

Skipping Duck

Dsc_0054

I’m not going to even try guessing what type of duck this is.   I caught it snacking on a fish; which was devoured before I could photo it.

Kingfisher

It must be my lucky day…I’ve always wanted to capture a photo of a Kingfisher (I think they kind of look like Joe Pesci, if Joe was a bird).   I was getting ready for Thanksgiving and out my window I spied this guy flying in place, eyeying his prey.Dsc_0005
