Our very own Suky Hutton has a terrific article in the January 2008 issue of Seattle Metropolitan Magazine about the mysterious white rooster who was also featured on Beach Drive Blog.

It’s a very enjoyable read and I highly recommend you pick your copy today and check out the SeaTown Diary section with Suky’s article and learn more about Coner the white rooster of Mee Kwa Mooks Park.

Hat tip to Larry for giving me a heads up about our Beach Drive Neighbor.

The Cats Out of the Bag: WHO is the West Seattle Blog

The infamous West Seattle Blog is coming out of the closet….okay…this has nothing to do with the kind of "coming out" you may be thinking of.   They have finally "dropped the veil" and now have a photo and bio on their "About Us" page.   (DO NOT CLICK THIS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHO THE FINE FOLKS BEHIND WSB REALLY ARE…sorry for exposing Patrick…however, you’ve probably seen him videoing around various West Seattle events).

I actually met Patrick at the KOMO-4 Bloggers Meet-Up during the summer.  He presented himself as a friend of WSB…but as a "friend only".   He talked about another blog he writes at that time.   I still had a sneaky suspicion that he was more than a WSB friend.   Patrick had searched me out of the group that was there just to tell me that "West Seattle Blog says hi".    And I was honored.

I had toyed with posting Patrick’s photo from the KOMO event and decided not to.  I wanted to respect the privacy of WSB.    Anyhow…now that the cats out of the bag, here’s our photo!

I knew it!   It was also confirmed when I started advertising on West Seattle Blog and received my emails from "Patrick the Sales Guy".

Too funny…I love it!   Even though the mystery of "who" is gone…I still look forward to all the posts at West Seattle Blog.  How do they do it?

Jacobsen and 49TH.   Posted live via my Treo.

Sorry that it’s a bit hard to read…I’ll try to doctor this up.   I know this is a little away from Beach Drive, however it’s a lost pug and I have an old pug of my own.   This sign is on top of Jacobsen, the phone number (I believe) is 206-358-8907 (or 353-8907)

Everyone in America get’s a FREE Taco…Life is Good!

Just watching the playoffs…thought I’d share with you that on Tuesday, October 30th…everyone in America gets a free taco from Taco Bell for a stolen base .

It just happened!  Thanks, Taco Bell!

Now if only there was a the Taco Bell that’s going in with KFC was complete…we wouldn’t have to leave West Seattle.

Scary Beach Drive Home

If there are other Beach Drive area homes that are ghoulish, please let me know!

Do you know the Bagpiper of Beach Drive?

Over the last two summers (since we’ve been on BD), occasionally you would hear the sounds of a bag pipe winding down a beautiful sunset.   From our viewpoint, we could see the bagpiper’s silhouette along the rocks at Emma Schmitz View Point.   It was magical.

This summer, we have not seen or heard the Bagpiper.   Maybe it’s just been our personal misfortune and we’ve just missed his impromptu concerts?  Or maybe he’s relocated or retired his pipes?

We’ve been wondering and so has one of our readers.    If you are or know of this Bagpiper, please speak up.

Update:   The Me-Kwa-Mooks group is hoping to locate him and ask if he could play on the 6th at the sign inauguration.    Please contact Judy for more info.

PS:  I’m told he was heard playing earlier this month!

Something new to do with your Zucchini

From the Seattle Times:

Who says you can’t play with your food? Head to West Seattle Farmers Market Sunday for its Zucchini 500 Races, where handcrafted squashmobiles will zip along a wooden track for prize ribbons.

All competitors receive a sturdy, race-worthy summer squash, four wooden wheels and plenty of décor (feathers, pipe cleaners, stickers, etc.) to customize each racer. The event is free and open to entrants of all ages. The market runs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the corner of California Avenue Southwest and Southwest Alaska Street in the parking lot behind Key Bank.

Go Seahawks!

This photo is another contribution from BDB reader, Linda.   She took this photo "from the balcony of the condo we rented at the Harbor Steps downtown. We had an incredible view. It was an awesome Seattle vacation!"

Since view of Mount Rainier includes Qwest Field…I thought it was only appropriate to post this on gameday!   GO HAWKS!
