Beach Drive Blog — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Beach Drive Blog (beachdriveblog.com) is a neighborhood community site covering news, events, and updates for the Beach Drive area of West Seattle. This policy explains what information is collected through the site and how it’s used.

What we collect

Comments. When you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and website (if provided) you submit with it, along with your IP address and browser user agent string, to help detect spam. Your email address is never published or shared publicly unless you request it to be shared or you leave it embedded in a comment.

Email newsletter (if you subscribe). If Beach Drive Blog offers an email signup, we collect your email address to send updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.

Contact forms (if used). Information submitted through any contact form on the site (name, email, message) is used only to respond to your inquiry.

Analytics. Like most websites, we use tools (such as Google Analytics) that collect general, non-identifying information about visits — pages viewed, time on site, general location (city/region level), and device/browser type. This helps us understand what content is useful to the neighborhood.

Cookies. The site uses cookies for basic functionality (remembering comment form info if you choose) and for analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some site features may not work as well without them.

Embedded content. Posts may include embedded content (e.g., YouTube videos, Facebook posts, Google Maps). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you visited that website directly, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction according to their own privacy policies.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
  • We don’t share your email address with third parties for marketing.
  • We don’t require an account or login to read or comment on the site.

How long we keep information

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so we (and readers) can follow the conversation history on a post. Email addresses from newsletter signups are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you (mainly limited to comment history and/or newsletter subscription)
  • Request that a comment or your email be removed
  • Unsubscribe from any email list at any time

To make any of these requests, contact us using the info below.

Facebook page

Beach Drive Blog also maintains a Facebook Page. Any information you share there (comments, messages, reactions) is subject to Meta’s own Data Policy, not this one, since that data lives on Facebook’s platform rather than beachdriveblog.com.

Children’s privacy

Beach Drive Blog is a general-audience community site and isn’t directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in how the site works. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
