All about the West Seattle neighborhood around Beach Drive

This just in from one of our readers:
this late afternoon I saw a very old loose golden retriever at 60th and stevens street. (alki) It had a collar but no tags. The golden was very sweet but seemed a bit befuddled and walked with the care of the old.
If you're missing this dog, 60th and Stevens is where it was last seen.
Total assumption that these seals are pups… they were fun to watch swimming around the sound this morning.
At 3800 and 4100 Beach Drive, you'll find two garage sales both benefiting great causes. Check them out and be sure to tell them that Beach Drive Blog sent you!
If you're a Beach Drive neighbor and have a garage sale or are doing a charity fundraiser and would like to promote it, please contact me.
I'm not totally sure if this boat is floating on it's own or secured… my apologies if this is not a missing boat! The line appears to be floating and not tied as far as my eyes can tell.
This is currently around the 4800 block of Beach Drive.

This just in from a neighbor who lives on Beach Drive:
Last Friday my son was packing the car to leave for college. Most everything was stolen while we went back up to the house.
It is likely that we will not see any of it again, but the duffels of use clothes might be left in the park or on the street somewhere. So please that us know.
If you happen to see large duffel bags or clothing that has been "dumped", please contact me and I'll forward the message.
Please check your dumpsters if you live in a condo or apartment.
Last night's sunset was a treat that's beauty partly caused by a fire on the Olypmics. The cooler evenings are a welcome relief following our recent hot temps.
Speaking of HOT, the National Weather Service has issued a HEAT WARNING through 10:00 p.m. Monday evening. Note: early the NWS had issued a "heat advisory" which has been reduced to a "warning". Either way, with temps in the mid to upper 90's–it's hot for us sensitive Seattle-ites who are typically never seem completely happy with the weather ("it's too hot" or "it's too cold").
With ongoing temps in the 90s, it's a good idea to check on neigbhors and make sure you don't have any pets trapped in garages or storage sheds.
From the National Weather Service:
* IMPACTS: THE ELDERLY…CHILDREN…AND PEOPLE WHO WORK OUTSIDE
ARE ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE TO THE EFFECTS OF HEAT. IF PROPER
PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN…HEAT EXHAUSTION OR HEAT STROKE ARE
POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS…STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED
ROOM AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
* CHILDREN AND PETS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN VEHICLES
UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES…ESPECIALLY DURING WARM OR HOT
WEATHER. CAR INTERIORS
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF
DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE HOT TEMPERATURES WILL
CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY.
DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS…STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM…STAY
OUT OF THE SUN… AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
Keep cool and enjoy the weather!
