Me-Kwa-Mooks Mysteries To Be Revealed

You may think it’s just a field with picnic tables, but Me-Kwa-Mooks Park runs deep.   Come by on Saturday, October 6th, at 10:30 a.m., to celebrate the installation of an interpretative sign that will tell you where a mansion once stood, what the park’s name really means, and why the trail through the woods gets better every year.

Coffee, pastries, and unforgettable historical insight are all on the house.

Does West Seattle has the messiest yards?

Yards0917According to this article in the Seattle PI, we’re the trashiest neighborhood in town.

"An analysis of weed and junk violation data from the 19 months preceding Aug. 1 showed that West Seattle residents were cited 419 times for deviating from city standards — by far the most of any Seattle neighborhood as defined by Metro King County".

Go Seahawks!

This photo is another contribution from BDB reader, Linda.   She took this photo "from the balcony of the condo we rented at the Harbor Steps downtown. We had an incredible view. It was an awesome Seattle vacation!"

Since view of Mount Rainier includes Qwest Field…I thought it was only appropriate to post this on gameday!   GO HAWKS!

Don’t forget to cheer on the marathoners tomorrow

Just a reminder that the Northwest Hope & Healing Half Marathon & 5k Run/Walk is taking place tomorrow.   Part of the route includes Beach Drive.    I did a half-marathon a few years ago and the cheering fans was a great much needed support.

Found glasses & beach chair at Constellation Park

A Beach Drive Blog reader reports:

"…as I was walking my dog this morning I saw a brightly colored beach chair, folded, with a pair of prescription glasses hanging over its back, leaning on the railing above the beach at Constellation Park. The glasses were misted over; had been there awhile. The chair was across from a building with the number 3306 (just north of the sewage treatment plant). I know you post items about missing pets; don’t know if that’s true for missing eyewear!"

Best Nachos in West Seattle

According to my husband, this honor should go to The Bamboo Bar & Grill for their Steak Nachos.    We shared a plate the other night when we went to Alki to see Lady Liberty return to her home.

Img_5906The nachos are as good as they look.    The steak is tender, guac’s great.  Lots of fresh toppings and plenty of cheese.

We’ve been pretty happy with the food at Bamboo Grill.

My water glass (water was all I was drinking) was never refilled.   Their service was pretty slow…so if you’re coming for the grub, have patience…prepare yourself for a wait (as you may do at many restaurants along Alki).

Bamboo Bar and Grill is located at 2806 Alki Avenue SW, Seattle.  (206) 937-3023.

Sunfish is closed until October 11, 2007

What the heck?  When we were at Alki last night to check out Lady Liberty, I noticed that Sunfish was dark and empty.   On their door, they have this sign:Img_5905

Does anyone know what’s up?   Our last post about Sunfish was about a recent review that stated they have some of the best fish-n-chips in Seattle.

UPDATE:   THEY ARE ON VACATION AND WILL RETURN (AS THE SIGN SAYS) ON OCTOBER 11.   I can’t wait!

Lady Liberty returns home in time for 9/11
