Can you believe it? Hopefully you have something planned within your block/neighborhood to participate in this event celebrating community and safety. The Seattle Police Department would like to know if you are planning a Seattle Night Out event no later than August 2, 2008 and Night Out takes place the evening of Tuesday, August 5, 2008.
I sent an email this afternoon to those on my distribution list. If you are a Beach Drive neighbor and would like to be added to my email list or are interested in the Block Watch/Night Out get together please let me know.
We will also need volunteers to hand out flyers, get the word out, etc.
Last years event was a pot luck and great fun.
For more information or to RSVP, please contact me.
We’re just returning home from a short work/vacation trip in Sonoma and discovered this egg on our upstairs patio. There doesn’t appear to be any chicks running around from this good sized (2 plus inches) egg. This is too big to be a baby Barn Swallow. Any ideas of what this was/is?
Earlier this month we reported that 6321 Beach Drive SW was approved to be torn down…looks like that’s recently been accomplished (above photo).
Another tear down is (or is by) 5221 Beach Drive SW.
No before picture…and a tough time finding info with the City (could just be me being inept).
Casey is this week’s the "Pet of the Week" for Beach Drive Blog.
Casey will allow his Humans to leash him for a nice walk. He also love to go boating and enjoys jumping back and forth from boat to boat when tied up at the end of the day.
Do you have a pet who lives on Beach Drive to submit for BDB POTW? email me a jpeg photo and you’re pet could enjoy the neighborhood blog-spotlight!
The local economy is not ruffling the feathers of this happy couple I reported on earlier this month. The nest appears finised (at least as far as I can tell) and they take turns keeping it cozy.
I’m not very familiar with Barn Swallows so I have no idea if we should be expecting a feathered family soon. I just enjoy watching and listening to them. I really hope this home doesn’t become another Beach Drive teardown.
I love it when pets and humans are reunited:
"Our cat Samantha just walked in the door. I have no idea where she was for over 24 hours. We sure are glad to have her home. Thanks for your help."
BDB is happy to help!
Update 7/21/2008: Samantha is back home.
Our kitty Samantha escaped from the house yesterday evening and we haven’t been able to find her. We live at 4700’s Beach Dr. Our kitty is a female blue abyssinian cat. You can contact us if you happen to see her. We miss her very much.
According to his Human, Dino has lots of admirers and loves all his canine buddies that he sees along Beach Drive every morning and evening on walks. He was also the inaugural "Pet of the Week" in the West Seattle Herald when that column was unveiled. Dino is very loving and has the sweetest disposition. His nickname is the KING, because he is one!
