Found Dog — Are You Missing a Husky?

Update:  Good news!  The Husky’s owner has been found.

Just off of Beach Drive on Snoqualimie Street, a lost Husky is being cared for.   If you’re missing this pet, please contact Suky.

Here is a list of resources (you can also find this link on the left side of BDB) if you have a found or missing pet.

Beach Drive Blog is always happy to reunite pets and their families.   Thanks to Suky for the heads up.

Sorry Fido…Off leash is unlikely in Lincoln Park

A BDB reader submitted this email to the City:

"Hi, I was wondering if there has ever been any discussion on adding an off-leash dog area to Lincoln Park. I live about five minutes away and no that as well as myself many of my fellow neighbors would love for an off-leash doggy play area to be added…Can you please update me or let me know what I can do to petition getting an off-leash dog area at Lincoln Park."

Here is the response:

There are no plans for an off-leash area at Lincoln Park. There are several factors that make an off-leash area there unlikely.

We strive for fair distribution of off-leash areas city-wide. West Seattle has an off-leash area at Westcrest Park, while some areas—Queen Anne and Magnolia—still have none.

The possibility of siting an off-leash area at Lincoln Park has come up in the past, but the citizen group that takes a lead stewardship role with the park, Friends of Lincoln Park, strongly opposed the idea. As well, the fact that Lincoln Park is an Olmsted-influenced makes it less likely that an off-leash area could be approved there.

Currently there is no money budgeted for an off-leash area. If you would like to petition for money to be added to the budget for new off-leash areas, you can contact the office of City Councilmember David Della who is chair of the Parks, Education, Libraries and Labor Committee. His e-mail address is david.della@seattle.gov

Thank you for your inquiry!

Best,

Laurie Dunlap

As a side note, The Friends of Lincoln Park are looking for volunteers this Saturday to remove invasive plants.

Two adorable cats need a home

Apparently the owner has moved and cannot take this cute kitties.    If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll forward a contact phone number for you.

I’d adopt one or two… but my three cats would never forgive me (neither would my husband).

Lost Cat along 4000 block of Beach Drive

I just took a picture of this sign…unfortunatley, there is no name, phone number or email to contact the human of this lost cat I may have cropped off the phone number.   If I have a chance, I’ll retake the photo…or if you contact me, I’ll try to contact the cat’s human.   This picture was taken by LaRustica.

Missing Kitty. Have you seen Dingleberry?

Kitty Please help reunite this lost tabby cat with her home.   She is missed very much.    I just received an email late last night from her people asking for BDB readers to keep an eye out.   Here is what the message says:

"I live in the greenbelt between Delridge and the South Community College. Our sweet grey tabby (with a white bib and mittens) went missing Sunday afternoon. She usually always comes when I call and we often garden outside together. She is petite, skittish of children and shy of strangers. Her name is Dingleberry. Can you post this lost message? She is my baby and I am at my wits end over her absence. If seen please contact me at 206.396.3815. I’ve attached a photo. Please help if you can. I’m offering a reward to anyone who finds her. She is micro-chipped but she has not been reported at the shelters as of yet."

If you find Dingleberry, please contact Becky at the number above and let us know so we can update this post.   We hope Dingleberry is back home with her family soon.

Seattle Dog Parks

A few months ago, a BDB reader inquired about local Dog Parks…I was just reading a few blogs over at Citizen Rain and came across this article from Green Spaces Real Estate:

"Westcrest Dog Park in West Seattle (located north of SW Roxbury on 8th Avenue SW). Westcrest is of particular interest…because it has only the 2nd "small and shy dog area" designated for small – and/or shy – dogs…."

I know…it’s not Lincoln Park.   I’m not sure if Westcrest was mentioned before…just thought I would share it with you.

Plants for Pets–Happening NOW

Thanks again to West Seattle Blog for always having the scoop.    Since this is a charity event to raise funds for pets…I think it’s worth repeating here.    Until 5 p.m. today, Furry Faces Foundation animal-rescue group is selling hanging plant baskets in the courtyard next to Hotwire, located at 4410 California Avenue SW.
