At least I hope so…this home is always over the top with Chistmas décor. An "after photo" will follow. Posted live from my Treo.
Trulia Hindsight
Trulia Hindsight is an interesting internet tool that shows you when homes where built within a specific area using pop-up color coded dots over a map.
Beach Drive Wine Cellars
Hat tip (or should I say I raise my glass) to West Seattle Blog; I haven’t ventured outside in this wind yet to pick up my weekend paper and they’ve all ready posted on an article featuring Beach Drive neighbors, Scott and Susan Lipskey’s wine cellar.
I imagine that there are many wine cellars along Beach Drive of all shapes, sizes and ages. Do you have a wine cellar? We have one that is rumored to be from prohibition days. One of these days I may share some photos or write a little about it.
Note: I meant to publish this post back on Nov. 11…it slipped by me somehow.
Two Units Proposed to be Five on Beach Drive
Last month I reported on a tear down on 3636 Beach Drive SW that surprised me. I do try to visit most of Beach Drive and keep an eye out for those yellow yard signs. That one I missed completely.
My neighbor, aka Cat Woman, brought to my attention a Notice of Application regarding this project. Here is a link to the application compliments of the Seattle Department of Planning and Development. The subdivision of lots is still pending approval and the city is hearing comments until November 11, 2007.
Another update on 3726 Beach Drive…the 1918 cottage looks like it will indeed become 4 unit property. Here is a link to the decision. The tearing down has not commenced on this old home yet.
Jack This House!
Another Tear Down on Beach Drive
Another tear down in the neighborhood
This home is just a block off of Beach Drive at 56th and Jacobsen. I was surprised to learn last night that it was being torn down. It was purchased by a builder in March of this year for $727,500. The permit states this will be a two story, taking full advantage of the view. Wish I had a "before" picture…I never saw the "yellow sign".
UPDATE 9/16/2007: According the builder (we met at a friend’s home); they plan on living in the home once it’s complete.
The Brown House on Beach Drive
I noticed this sign on the way to the school bus stop this morning:
As reported on BDB earlier this month, this "eyesore" is eventually going to be two townhouses. You can read the City’s decision by clicking here.
You would think the City would have laws about abandoned homes (I hope no one is living there) on main arterials since it can be a safety and health issue (as the sign mentions).
The Brown House by Emma Schmitz Park
It appears that this house will soon be two. BDB first reported on it back in April as the beginning of a "before and after" home series on tear downs.
If you have a house in your neighborhood on Beach Drive that is tagged as a tear down, snap a photo and email it to me. I think it’s important to document "what once was".
This poor house has been abandoned (at least we hope no one was living there) for so long. I think the last big storm blew out the window in the back which now has broken glass and propped up mattresses to keep critters out.
Hat Tip to West Seattle Blog for their Land Use Updates.
Enter "beach dr" to see other properties along Beach Drive that are hoping to change their land use designation.
Painted Lady update
Somehow I missed this post from the West Seattle Blog at the end of May. Apparently The Painted Lady (Satterlee house) may have three new homes on her front yard soon. The City of Seattle has issued a permit…check out WSB for more info.
