Whale Sighting

I just received this email:

"I just saw whales, not sure how many, maybe 5 heading south, around 9:50 – 10 am. When I saw them they were just south of Harbor West Condos, way out, and heading to the south end of blake island, but then some showed up closer to La Rustica!!!! Too far to tell if they were orca.  Any other reportings?"

December 3, 2008 - UpdateCheck out West Seattle Blog for great photos and details about the Orca's that have been seen in our area.

What’s up Wallenius Wilhelmsen?

Just noticed the Coast Guard (on the other side of the cutter) and Police slowly escorting the Wallenius Wilhelmsen in Puget Sound.

Choppy weather the next two days

Today, the Puget Sound marine forecast has a small craft advisory in effect through this evening with winds from the east up to 30 kt this afternoon and 3 to 5 foot waves.  High tide is a 11.8 at 11:28 am.  With winds from the east, it should be pretty interesting to watch–especially if you're by Vashon or the other islands.  The City of Seattle forecast confirms winds up to 20 mph from the east changing to the southwest later this afternoon.

Friday also promises to be windy and cold with lows in the mid 30s to lower 40s and south winds up to 25 mph…watch out Jeff Renner!  LOL

Barking Dog Report: Howling Winds through Wednesday morning with High Tides

With the next high tide happening right now (2:22 pm @ 11.8) I think we’re going to Istock_000002610704medium_1 escape a "barking dog report" for today.  However I am a little concerned about the following high tides: tomorrow morning at 4:22 am @ 11.2 and again at 2:54 pm @ 11.9 feet.  Combine the high tides of 11.2 at 4am and howling 30mph winds gusting up to 40mph…I think it’s worthy to bark about.

Sub Siting

Spied this morning by Beach Drive Blog’s newest contributer "The Scupper".   Who do you think would win this race: ferry vs. submarine?

Beached along Beach Drive

This motor boat broke loose from it’s buoy sometime last night following a few days of wind and waves.   Luckily handsome man  and his brave son were able to rescue the boat which was found in front of Mee Kwa Mooks.

Wait a second, that’s no handsome man, that’s my husband! (ba-da-dum)  Okay, I’m not Rodney Dangerfield.

I sincerely do thank our kind neighbor who let us know that our boat was not where it was suppose to be.
