Beach Drive Fireworks Show this Saturday @ 4500 Block

It’ll be boom city this Saturday at 10PM for a 10 minute show of barged-in fireworks. Tuxedo and Tennis Shoes has given notice via West Seattle Blog about the brief show taking place off the 4500 block of Beach Drive. I know our dog Scupper will be looking for ducks falling out of the sky.  Hope everyone’s pets around the vicinity (just north of Mee-Kwa-Mooks) take it in stride!

Enjoy!

UPDATE:  She’s been reunited with her humans!

From our Facebook page:

Found collarless wandering Beach Dr. I put her in my car and took her home. Now she is just hanging out with my two dogs but I’m sure she misses her people!

FOUND Cat

This just in from a Beach Drive neighbor:

“We live right near la Rustica and this cat followed me into my yard and decided to stay today. We would approach but both of us are very allergic and he seems very  friendly and not scared of dogs. If you know his owner, please let us know. Thanks!!”

Orson Memorial Water Bowl unveiling Monday 4/15/13 at 7PM (water fountain @ Emma Schmitz Overlook Park)

If we had a category for this post it would read “Just for the helluvit”! The idea comes from an unknown kind soul that planted a purple bowl beneath the drinking fountain last year for all our 4 legged friends to drink out of. That bowl must have blown away during one of the winter storms so… we want to pay it forward this year with a stainless dog bowl in memory of an old friend named Orson that used to hobble (on a good day) out to that section of Emma Schmitz park. Rain or shine, bring your walking buddy out to the fountain at 7:00 tomorrow night for the first slurp of the season!

Bailey & Rosie, Sophie, Oliver, the baying hounds, Ottie & Sailer, Seyward, Winston, Gizmo, Cheeto & Paddy, Molly, Sammy, Tazi and the rest of ya tail waggers are cordially invited!

LOST CAT: Have you seen Isis?

This just in from a Beach Drive neighbor on the 4700 block:

I came home tonight to discover that one of our cats had gotten out while we were away. She is a small grey cat, missing one eye. She is not wearing a collar, as she’s an indoor cat. She’s pretty skittish, and doesn’t like to be held, but will come to my voice.

We are fostering her and do not know if she is micro-chipped.

If you see Isis, please call 206-601-0113.

LOST CAT: Have you seen Charlie?

This message is from Charlie’s human/owner:

HELP! I’M LOST!

My name is Charlie. I live at 54th & Alki. I am a 3-year-old orange and white fixed male cat, and I went missing on Thursday 07 March around 8:00PM. I am an indoor cat, and if I ever get outdoors I usually hide, making it difficult for you to see me. I am pretty skittish around other cats and animals, but am known to be pretty vocal when called by name. I would really like to be returned to my home, so if you have seen me recently or know where I am, please contact my owner.

Thank you!

Pixie Bob Kitten available

Are you considering adding a kitten to your home? A local West Seattle pixie-bob breeder, Seattle’s Best, has a beautiful kitten available. Her name is Squeaker.  Isn’t she adorable?

Sherri from Seattle’s Best describes Squeaker as:

Door greeter, loves to talk but quiet purr/chirping, prefers a piece of paper to her furry mouse at the moment but her favorite is a wand toy, sleeps on the bed at night behind your knees, loves racing down the hallway, would love a feline or dog friendly buddy, uses the scratching post faithfully, likes to watch TV with you and if she is sitting on the same piece of furniture as you, has to be touching you, loves having her belly rubbed and being petted, makes biscuits when petted even if she is eating.

She weighs 9lb 5oz at 6.5 months so she is going be a big girl. She has long hair, a beautiful thick almost full length tail.

If you’re not familiar with the pixie-bob bread, they are more “trainable” than a typical cat. Some say they’re almost dog like as they will come when you call them, play fetch and some even swim or can be walked on a leash.  By the way, “making biscuits” means kneading – I had to ask Sherri!

Squeaker is $400 and she is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Of course she is a purebred Pixie Bob and comes with papers, born 06/22/12.

Why was the dog barking this morning?

You may have heard the dog barking around 3:00 this morning and wondered if it was locked out or alone in it’s home.  We had a couple emails asking if we knew what was going on with the barking dog so we posted it on our Facebook page.

As it turns out, a dog was actually trapped in the bulk head boulders off of Emma Schmitz View Point this morning. Lucky for this dog, a couple of bicyclist were passing by around 5:00 am this morning when they heard the dogs constant barks.

From our Facebook page:

“We were out on our morning bike ride, heard barking coming from down by the water, took off our bike lights, and investigated along with another “early morning-er”. We called for Police/Fire help because we could get him out of the rocks. He was trapped *inside* the rock bulkhead”

The pup was taken to Lien Animal Clinic where they were able to find his microchip and reunite him with his owners.

We are so thankful for Dawnie and her fellow “early morning-er” as well as the SPD and Fire Department for rescuing this pup. In my opinion, they’re all heroes!
