Comments

Check out Chuck’s comments on his recent experience at Beato.    I wish I could figure out how to have the Comment Section on Beach Drive Blog show at least a "teaser" portion…if anyone out there is an expert with Typepad blogs (the platform that I’m using for BDB), please let me know.    Since we currently don’t have teaser comments…I’ll give you a little tease from Chuck’s review:

"I would definitely save room for the chocolate ravioli….The wine list is excellent…."

The Comment Section is on the left, just under where you can subscribe to email updates from BDB.

If you click on the link that has the title the post, it will take you to that post and  you can read the commentary from readers.   And by the way, blogs love to have comments so, as Bob says, don’t be bashful!

Dine for Dafur at West Seattle Restaurants

Several Seattle area restuarants will be doing a fund raiser on April 3, 2007 for Dafur through Mercy Corps.      The restaurants in West Seattle include:

Good food for a good cause.   Cheers!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Dsc_0347_2Okay…he’s not a Leprechaun (he is wearing green pants)…and I did spy him on Beach Drive in a neighbor’s yard.   And I’m sure he’s good luck for us on this St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patty’s Day  officially begins in West Seattle at Celtic Swell on March 16th at 10:00 p.m.   A pint of Guinness anyone?

Don’t miss the Irish Heritage Club Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade beginning at 12:30 on Saturday along 4th Avenue in Seattle.

May your neighbors respect you, trouble neglect you, the angels protect you, and heaven accept you.

Art Show at Endolyne Joe’s

Explorer West Middle School is featuring an exhibit of ceramic masks based on Mexican mask design at Endolyne Joe’s.    I understand some of the art is even available for purchase!   The show runs from March 15 – June 12, 2007.

Do you have information about a school event?  I’m happy to post it on BDB…and even happier if you would like to post it (wink wink).   Just send me an email.

Local Restauant Review Blog

I stumbled across The Definative Good and Bad Restaurant Reviews.   This blogger specializes in reviewing Seattle area restaurants.

Here are a few West Seattle reviews from his blog.

Cactus (4.5 out of 5 stars)

Christos (4 out of 5 stars) for breakfast

Coyotes on Alki (3 out of 5 stars)…okay…it was their grand opening weekend.

What are your favorite Alki restaurants?

Where to Eat in West Seattle

Can’t decide where you want to have lunch or dinner?   Click this link, enter your zip code and if you’re hankering for breakfast, lunch or dinner…then give the "Wheel of Food" a spin.   It’s a crack up…okay….so I’m easily amused!

Another West Seattle Restaurant No More?

I don’t go to The Charlestown very often…I’m not sure why.   Now that it may be closing…I’m tempted to go there (kind of like driving dow the viaduct).    I do know it’s been a gathering spot in West Seattle for ions.   To read more…click here.

Not Something to Cheer About

I was reading the West Seattle Blog this morning and learned that one of our family’s favorite restaurants,  Guadalajara Hacienda on California Avenue, will be closing this weekend.   To read more…click here.   Adios Amigos.

Update:  February 16, 2007 at 7:14 p.m.   Our family just returned from a "farewell dinner" at Guadalajara.   It turns out that they did not sell the property, they lost their lease.  They hope to reopen in the neighborhood soon.

Do You Have Plans for Dinner Tonight?

A neighbor just called to let us know that The Homestead Restaurant features a community night on the first Friday Monday of each month from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  They offer specially pricing on dinners and according to Larry, it’s a nice way to meet your neighbors.

Unfortunately for us, I had all ready made stuffed peppers for dinner.   Maybe next time!   I’ve been itching to try their famous fried chicken.

A Lovely Day for a Walk

Img_4751_2

It was such a day out that my husband and I decided to walk to the Log House Museum on Alki.    So I thought I would share some photos I took along the way.    At the Museum, a volunteer was asking if we are residents and we told him where we live and that we just started a blog on our area.   He wanted to know if I knew the identity of the West Seattle blogger!  Maybe he is the person behind the West Seattle Blog?!   Mysteries are so much fun!

The fine folks at the museum also informed us about the Alki News Beacon, a local Img_4752publication that I was not aware of.

On the way back, we toured Seaview Hall which was recently listed for a cool $1.8 million.   It’s amazing how much restoration has been done to this historic home.  Personally, I think it would make a great bed and breakfast if you have a spare mil or two!
