It was brought to our attention that the “Bart Simpson” house on Alki Point has been listed for sale.
The home has a fresh coat of exterior paint which covered up the fun painting of Bart doing some graffiti on the home.
If you look real close, you can barely see where Bart entertained passers by for years.
Hopefully the new owners of this Alki home will be fans of The Simpsons so that Bart can return!
Ay carumba!
We were driving along Alki this afternoon when we were surprised to see that the beautiful blue glass tree has been knocked down.
We have no idea why or how this happened…just saddened to see it in this state.
Hopefully it can be repaired and upright soon for all to enjoy.
You can stop by Beach Drive and Jacobson today through Sunday to buy some art…if you do, be sure to tell them that Beach Drive Blog told you! š
My Sister-in-Law, Paula, is a talented artist who creates beautiful, functional copper roofed bird houses with antiques, whimsical, and themed designs. She will be at West Seattle’sĀ Summerfest starting this Friday, in space 3 at “Seattle’s Bird Lady“.
My hubby and intrepid Beach Drive Blog Reporter, Scupper, along with his son, KC, will also be there helping out.
Please be sure to stop by and say hello!
Be sure to tell them that you heard about it on Beach Drive Blog š
The art sale (Art on the Corner) is at the corner of Jacobsen and Beach Drive.
This garage sale is NOT TO MISS! The owner’s are really nice folks but… really have no idea how highly valuable their loot is. Rumor has it that they’re unloading priceless paintings for only a couple of bucks. This is just one of many items that have spent years collecting dust in their daughter’s closet…
Other items include several jewels of the Queen said to be still lingering under the cushion of this plush throne…
Hope to see all you treasure hunters bright and early this Saturday & possibly Sunday starting at 9:00 AM…and to receive the super “whamo deal”, make sure you tell them Scupper sent you!!!
PS: If you have a garage or yard sale around Beach Drive that you’d like to promote – drop us a line!
Scupper, schlepping for Beach Drive Blog
Found this great carving while walking along the waterfront path at Lincoln Park. Scupper Jr’s natural pull to the beach (which of course, I fully resist) landed us here…
While this particular carving has been fully documented on West Seattle Blog, a long time resident of Beach Drive informed me that as recent as 3 or 4 years ago he’s has seen several of what he calls “spirit logs” wash up on our local beaches north of Lincoln Park. He went on to say that he…
“heard there were many but disapeared over time. People, sand and tide moved them.”
A quick Google search uncovered another driftwood carving found near the water in Port Townsend…
I’m squarely in the camp of welcoming these native style carvings onto our beaches. Reminds me of the native heritage of the land we now call home!
Scupper, for Beach Drive Blog
In addition to blogging, my day job, etc….I started painting earlier this year – mostly on black velvet. You can imagine my excitement when I was invited to participate at the Elivstravaganza exhibit at Bumbershoot. I am auctioning my painting with proceeds to benefit Cafe Racer Love. As of yesterday, bids were at $400. I believe that the end of Bumbershoot will be the end of bidding (I’ll confirm and update). If you’re interested in placing a bid, please contact Marlow Harris ASAP.
Here is West Seattle Herald’s coverage and a clip from Evening Magazine (you’ll see a glimpse of my painting at 1:00 into the video).
This just in from Mayor Nickels office:
