Log House Museum – Preserving Heritage Gala and Silent Auction

Saturday, November 22, 2008 from 5pm-9pm

WEST SEATTLE – The Southwest Historical Society invites you to a festive evening to raise funds for the Log House Museum.  The Log House Museum preserves Seattle’s history and as a non-profit, relies on donations from members, the business community and museum enthusiasts to keep the doors open.

We begin with a live jazz trio during the cocktail hour and on the spot jewelry appraisal services from a PBS Antiques Road Show appraiser.  Browse the silent auction featuring items that coincide with this years theme of preserving heritage.  Next we feast on a gourmet dinner with the choice of Confetti Ravioli or Steak and Northwest Salmon.  For dessert, we have a delectable variety of homemade treats on auction from family recipes for you to enjoy.

Tickets are $75 per person and are available by calling the Log House Museum at 206-938-5293or via email.

This event takes place at The Jerry Brockey Center at South Seattle Community College, 6000-16th Avenue SW, Seattle

Not Quite a Barking Dog…

More like a whimper, or as Steve Pool said on tonight’s weather report on KOMO-4, consider this a "knock on the door" of weather to come.

Rosh Hashanah

A Beach Drive neighbor just made us aware of a Rosh Hashanah ceremony taking place at Emma Schmitz View Point.

Howdy Neigbhor!

Did you know that today, Sunday, September 28, 2008 is National Good Neighbor Day?

Good Neighbor Day started in Montana in 1971 by Mrs. Mattson.  On September 18, 2008, the Senate passed a resolution recoginzing the importance of National Good Neighbor Day.  (They must have passed this in their spare time).

If your neighbors are anything like ours, this will be a very easy day to celebrate!

Lost Black Lab (is now found)

Our 3 year old black lab Jack is missing!  found! He took of this morning at 5 am and did not have his collar on. He is chipped!

Update 1:30 p.m. September 28, 2008.  I just received this great news via email:

"Thanks for the posting. We did retrieve Jack by 9:30am Saturday. One of your kind neighbors on Beach Dr. took him to their Vet. Who read his chip and called me. We live in a great neighborhood!"

Late Night Police Activity on Beach Drive

I’m not totally sure of what’s going on but at Jacobson and Beach Drive (approx.) there are some minors that have been pulled over and are sitting on the sidewalk with two Police cars.   They’ve been here for quite a while and at one point, a neighbor reports they saw Police searching up Jacobsen with a dog.

Hopefully we’ll have more info to follow up with.   If you have any details, please comment and let us know.

Did You See Green Suburu Speeding on Beach Drive?

This just in…I’ll update this post as I get more information.  Keep an eye out for a green Suburu Forester with a broker mirror.

"….as my son was loading up his car this morning along Beach Dr, a green Subaru Forester was speeding by and actually hit the door of our car, (just missing my son) and broke off the Forester’s outside mirror.    Of course the speeding car did not stop. Unfortunately my son did not get a license plate number."

Update: the broken mirror is on the Suburu’s passenger side and the event happened on the 6500 block of Beach Drive.   If you spot a car matching this description, please contact the Seattle Police Department.
