All about the West Seattle neighborhood around Beach Drive

This from West Seattle Blog's Twitter:
caller says up to 20 whales headed south from Point No Point – so maybe they'll be seen off WS. (before dark? maybe?)
By the way if you follow West Seattle Blog via Twitter, I invite you to follow me, too!
I just received this email:
"I just saw whales, not sure how many, maybe 5 heading south, around 9:50 – 10 am. When I saw them they were just south of Harbor West Condos, way out, and heading to the south end of blake island, but then some showed up closer to La Rustica!!!! Too far to tell if they were orca. Any other reportings?"
December 3, 2008 - Update: Check out West Seattle Blog for great photos and details about the Orca's that have been seen in our area.
The Barn Swallow chicks (are they called chicks?) next door are all ready out growing their nest. In fact, they look like they’re almost as big as Mom and Dad. Before you know it, they’ll have flown the coop. *sigh*
These photos were just taken south of Emma Schmitz View Point.
He took flight when a boat blasted by playing some loud party music…must be on their way to Seafair!
The local economy is not ruffling the feathers of this happy couple I reported on earlier this month. The nest appears finised (at least as far as I can tell) and they take turns keeping it cozy.
I’m not very familiar with Barn Swallows so I have no idea if we should be expecting a feathered family soon. I just enjoy watching and listening to them. I really hope this home doesn’t become another Beach Drive teardown.
So many photo opportunities with this nice weather and low tides…and so little time to post them with my day job! Thought you’d enjoy these photos of a bald eagle hanging out just south of Emma Schmitz Memorial View Point.
If you have a hot tip, photos, story, suggestions...anything you wish to submit to the Beach Drive Blog, please email rhonda (at) mortgageporter (dot) com.
