It’s a breezy one this morning…not quite alarming enough for a "barking dog" report.  But  it is enough to stay alert and prepared.   Here’s the scoop for this morning:

What a Difference a Day Makes

We went from a sunny Sunday to a blustery Monday with a chance of snow in the forecast.  That’s a drop of 20 degrees in just one day!   Luckily we’re past our high tide today and tomorrow looks more calm (including a possible morning snow shower).

Sailboats, Seal and a Rainbow

Photo’s from yesterday.  (I was too busy watching the Seahawks to post this unti now).  Way to go Hawks!

This seal was leaping north towards Alki.  You can barely make it out in the bottom right corner of the photo below.  I was snapping like crazy hoping for a better shot.Dsc_0100

Who doesn’t enjoy seeing a rainbow?

What I was doing 3:00 a.m. this morning…the wild weather continues

Our house was up after hearing enough water come over the bulkhead…debating just how long can you stall before you prep for a storm?   It was another close call for us.  This one being the closest.   We did have several significant waves come over the bulkhead but none that our sub-pump couldn’t manage.

The videos are a little dark (it was around 2:30 a.m. — 2 hours before high tide).   It gives you an idea of what it was like last night.   It’s really hard to capture the exhilaration…especially when it’s pitch black outside.   This is from our deck looking down at the bulk head and our driveway:

This video is standing in our driveway:

One of our neighbors was very kind to come over to see if we needed any help (at 2:30 in the morning).   He’s an angel.

Our next high tide as a 10.3 at 1:40 pm (around when the Hawks game starts) and the current marine forecast is:

…GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM PST THIS AFTERNOON…

TODAY…SW WIND 25 TO 35 KT. WIND WAVES 4 TO 6 FT. SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

TONIGHT…SW WIND 15 TO 25 KT DIMINISHING. WIND WAVES 2 TO 4 FT. SHOWERS LIKELY.

The Seattle forecast warns of windgusts up to 50 mph (not to mention that snow is hinting of showing up this weekend):

…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PST THIS MORNING…

TODAY…SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. WINDY. HIGHS IN THE 40S. SOUTH WIND 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH. WINDS DIMINISHING IN THE AFTERNOON.

Let’s hope that Mother Nature leaves our power on so we can all watch and cheer for the Seahawks from the warmth of our homes.

What is it with major Seahawk games and wind storms?

It was the eve before Superbowl last year that we had some waves over our bulkhead last year.   We had invited some friends and family over to watch the game…but most chickened out afraid of the weather or that we’d put them to work cleaning up!

Tomorrow afternoon the Seahawks begin their first round in the playoffs and we’re having some serious gusts of wind.   Hopefully we’ll miss the the high tide early tomorrow AM at of 11.3 at 4:46.  (That’s awfully early to be manning the pumps).

Here’s the current marine forecast for Puget Sound (scroll down):

…GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON…
