Film Crew Coming to Beach Drive

Later this month, a film crew will be on location using a Beach Drive home for a holiday movie, Ira Finklestein's Christmas.  Several neighbors may have received a notice from the Locations Manager providing a "heads up" that they have applied for a permit to use a portion of Beach Drive for the movie and asking some residences to not park their cars on the street during the filming… stay tuned!

NOTE:  The owners of the home where the movie is being filmed wish not to have their location disclosed at this time.  If you happen to know which property it is, we hope you respect their privacy.

Breaking News: Beloved Beach Drive Bovine – Exclusive Footage

WARNING: Parts of these videos may be too graphic and disturbing for some.

This morning, the "beloved Beach Drive bovine" washed up on another Beach Drive property.   The SPD showed up to help resolve this reoccuring situation.   "Officer Jim" noted that one of the cow's legs were broken and wonders if the cow's owner decided to dump the animal into Puget Sound instead of properly taking care of it.

The Seattle Police Department arrived with a police boat to slowly tow the cow away to animal control authorities waiting at Don Armeni Park.

Additional videos and photos of the beloved Beach Drive bovine are here.

Update on the Dead Cow Story

Just saw this tweet from West Seattle Blog:

I hope none of the neighbors to the north (or anywhere) wind up with this poor old dead cow too.

The next low tide today is a 5.20 at 12:06 p.m.   This will be followed by a 9.97 at 5:20 p.m. with the second chance for the cow to land on someone's beach at 11:43 p.m. with a 0.71 low tide.

Update:  as of 9:25 am this morning, the dead cow was around the 5400 block per comment by Lura on West Seattle blog.

Update Feb 5, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.: it looks like the cow has landed by the Menashe property.

Dead Cow Washes Up on Beach

We received an email last night that someone with their dog made a gruesome discovery around 11:00 p.m.   A dead cow that hog-tied washed up on the beach around the 5900 block of Beach Drive.   Police were called.

Update 8:32 a.m.   The home owner needs to deal with getting the cow removed from their beach.   The police did come out last and thought that the cow was probably old and may have died from natural causes.  The police speculate someone may have been using it for bait!

Why would someone use a cow for bait?

What would they be trying to catch?

Update 4:30 p.m.  Here's West Seattle Blog's coverage.

Update on the Beach Drive Mudslide

West Seattle Blog has this completely covered here… looks like it's not just a muddy mess, it's a legal one too… hopefully no one is harmed while this is "duked out".

Mud Slide at 6200 Beach Drive

Beach Drive is closed to all traffic around the 6200 block.  This is the same area that has experienced mud slides before (below Atlas).  Here's our post from the mudslide in this area back in December 2007.

As we were taking these photos, you could hear snapping and popping of trees.

Update 6:20 pm:  Beach Drive is now closed at Jacobson heading south towards the slide.
