Oh No–Chance of Snow?

I'm hoping it's a case of the local news doing their best to add drama to our weather forcast.  King 5 is reporting that:

It is possible there could be a few wet snowflakes mixed in with the rain in heavier showers, but no accumulations at sea level!

Whew!!  Regardless if we have snow or not–it is going to get very chilly tonight.  The Seattle City Forecast reports:

Tonight: LOWS IN THE UPPER 20S TO MID 30S

Tuesday night:  LOWS IN THE 30S TO LOWER 40S

Things should be more "normal" later this week.

Bundle up and let's hope Mother Nature isn't full of surprises!

The Alki Sea Cow?

I first caught this storie via a tweet from West Seattle Blog…the photo was udderly hysterical.  I then ventured to their blog and it appears nobody is coming forward with their story about the Sea Cow.

It was enough for my hubby and me to venture out to Alki Point to see if for ourselves.

FOUND: Please DO NOT FEED Zoey: The Lost Yorkie on Beach Drive

March 4, 2010 Update:

Zoey is back!!!!

After 10 days of driving all over the area, racing to sightings, running down the beach in high heels and checking traps morning, noon and night, I finally caught the Yorkie who thinks she is a mountain dog.

Not sure what I will do with her after I give her a spa treatment and spay her, but for now she is safe in my kitchen.  Now maybe I can get a night's sleep.  Thanks to everyone who sent wishes.

The help of the people along Beach Drive and in West Seattle in general was amazing. The West Seattle Blog and the Beach Drive Blog which spread the word, Lara and Jan who checked traps, all the folks who called in sightings, and Pam the cat trapper who leant me her traps all made me feel more a part of this neighborhood than I have in 20 years.

This just in from Zoey's owner:

DO NOT FEED YORKIE ON BEACH DRIVE.  We are trying to trap her and she needs to be hungry to go in the trap.  Seen every morning around 10-11  between 5300 and 6400 Beach Drive. Please call 715-8818 if you spot her so we know location.   Reward to favorite charity if you catch her.

Zoey is a Yorkie/Shia Zsu mix and was last seen in the Beach Drive neighborhood.   From West Seattle Blog:

ZOEY
Her owners ask that you please check under your cars and in shrubs, etc.  Zoey's been away from home for almost a week.

Thanks to West Seattle Blog for making us aware of this missing pet.

10:48 AM UPDATE FROM ZOEY'S OWNER:  She has been hanging out for the past two days at the homes on the west side of Beach Drive at the base of Atlas.  Also across the road under a tree with a bunch of "junk".  I have set a trap and with any luck animal contral will set a trap as well.  If anyone finds her,, she has to be cornered as she is a rescue and very skittish.  Anything you or anyone can do is greatly appreciated.

Tsunami Advisory for Washington Coastlines

The earthquake in Chile has triggered a Tsunami advisory along the Pacific coastline, including Washington and up to Alaska.

…A TSUNAMI ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT WHICH INCLUDES THE
COASTAL AREAS OF CALIFORNIA – OREGON – WASHINGTON – BRITISH COLUMBIA AND ALASKA FROM THE CALIFORNIA-MEXICO BORDER TO ATTU ALASKA…

From the Examiner.com:

Tsunami Advisory is in effect for the Washington coast  and the Puget Sound….. A tsunami advisory mean that strong waves or currents dangerous to people in or very near the water is immient or expected.  Significant flooding from waves are not expected…however stay out of the water until the danger has passed!

I'm watching King5 as I write this post… they estimate that we may see some waves between 2:00 – 4:00 pm today.

Today's high tide for this area is an 11.2 at 3:15 pm.

Seattle PI Article: Tsunami would be disaster for Seattle (from 2005 with interesting map showing riskier areas, including West Seattle).

Lot's of great tips in this issue including connecting block watch groups within a neighborhood.   If you're a local block watch captain or if you're in an area block watch group, please give me a shout.

Comcast Issues

I know at our home, we've been experiencing issues with our internet since late yesterday (that we're aware of since some football game was on).

I've been on the phone off and on with Comcast today and apparently in the Beach Drive/Alki area (they don't give you a specific area) they have been experiencing technical issues.

The supervisor I spoke with from Comcast stated that they have technicians going door to door today to try to get this resolved.

Let me tell you, it's no fun being a "blogger" and not having your internet!

Small Dog found by Beach Drive and Alki Point

This morning the West Seattle Blog reports:

2/3/10: Just received a phone call (8 am) that a small female dog was found along north Beach Drive (south of Alki Point) this morning. Taken to West Seattle VCA vet clinic/hospital. If it might be yours, please call 206 923 3551 (and let us know if there’s a reunion since we may not hear directly from the hospital).
