Gale Warning in effect starting at 4pm Today

It seems so calm right now, it’s hard to believe we could have waves splashing over bulkheads over the next 24 hours.

Our next high tide is a 10.19 at 4:46 pm tonight…just after the gale warning is in effect. Marine forecast (below) currently has waves building to 4-6 feet in the afternoon starting from the NE and switching to SW in the evening.

The high tide following that is 11.72 at 6:00 am Sunday morning. Marine forecast is for waves of 3 to 5 feet from the SW.

We’re making sure our pumps are ready…just in case.

Windy, Wavy, Rainy Weekend

We are “on watch” for the weather this weekend because of the high tides along big winds that are heading our way. Hopefully everything simmers down before the weekend – however, it’s always best to be prepared for worst case scenario.  It’s looking like a good weekend to cuddle up with your Valentine…after making sure you have enough gas for your trash pump, generator is working and you have spare candles.

Sailing Sea Lion off of Emma Schmitz View Point

We’ve been watching a large sea lion floating off the shores of Beach Drive for the last couple hours. You may not even notice him as he looks like a log for a majority of the time…until he lifts his big head for some air.

We did contact Seal Sitters, as I’m told others have as well, and were told that he is probably “sailing” (also referred to as “logging”) to reserve energy during this cold weather. If he does come to shore or seems in distress, the person at Seal Sitters asked that they be called again.

Snow!

We’re getting a dusting of snow along Beach Drive. I just took this photo moments ago.

The National Weather Service forecast just a little accumulation of that white stuff overnight.

Tonight: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 31. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east southeast in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. South southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

I love snow on the weekend that melts away. 🙂

Eve of the Seahawk’s NFC Championship

As you can probably tell, we are very excited about tomorrow’s big game and look forward to adding another NFC Championship banner.

…I must confess – we have our Christmas tree still up… and we are leaving it up until we win the Super Bowl – the ornaments are down (we have a new puppy who was having too much fun them)… it’s only silly if it doesn’t work. Right?

How are you celebrating tomorrow’s big game?

GO HAWKS!!

Wind Waves, Thunderstorms and SEAHAWKS!

Seahawk fans won’t be the only ones making lots of noise this afternoon… ol’ Mother Nature will be chiming in too.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory through midnight. Just prior to kick off today, at 12:48pm we are at a high tide of 11.08. Combine that with the winds and waves and we could see some blue and green waters coming over Beach Drive bulkheads.

Seahawk spirit on Beach Drive

This home just north of La Rustica on Beach Drive must be the home of the 12th man…or Russell Wilson!

The lighting (nor my camera phone) does this fan’s efforts justice – you got to drive by this at night when you can see the lights.

Go SEAHAWKS!!
