Argosy Christmas Ships

Argosy2008The 2010 schedule is out for the Argosy Christmas Ships.  They will cruise to West Seattle on December 11, 2010 featuring The Dickens Carolers.   Departing Pier 55 at 8:00 p.m., they are scheduled to arrive at Lowman Beach from 8:50 – 9:10 p.m.    The ships will then head to Alki Beach from 9:40 – 10:00 p.m.

The Christmas Ship is sold out for December 11, 2010 however tickets are still available (at the writing of this post) for a Follow Boat, or you can join the flotilla with your own boat.   Of course you can also join neighbors and friends at Lowman and Alki where there's sure to be bon fires and holiday festivities or even enjoy the merriment from your home.

Here are some photos from a couple years ago.

Can you believe that Christmas is just two months away?   Happy Holidays!

Car Damaged by Vandal on Beach Drive

Sometime last night or this morning someone through a baseball sized rock through the back of a Volvo SUV on the 4700 block of Beach Drive.   It does not appear any items were stolen.

TODAY WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF TRANQUIL WEATHER

Kind of an ominous tone for the Western Washington forecast:

…AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN IS IN STORE FOR WESTERN WASHINGTON…TODAY WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF TRANQUIL WEATHER.

HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT THAT HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE NICE WEATHER WILL  MOVE EAST…ALLOWING AN UPPER LOW TO APPROACH THE REGION. THIS  SYSTEM WILL BRING SOME RAIN TO THE AREA TONIGHT AND FRIDAY.

A STORMY PATTERN WILL BE IN PLACE FOR THIS WEEKEND…AND WILL LAST THROUGH THE FIRST PART OF NEXT WEEK. EXPECT A STRONG SYSTEM TO BRING WINDY CONDITIONS AS WELL AS USHER IN A COLDER AIR MASS ON SUNDAY…

West Seattle Blog via Twitter suggest that it could be time to get out the batteries and generators.   We think that's that a good start!   You may want to make sure you have candles, boots, gloves and pumps ready too…it's a good opportunity to start thinking about the the "three p's".

Should We Expect Many Trick-or-Treaters?

I just received this comment from our Halloween post today:

We're new to Beach Drive (near Mee Kwa Mooks park) this year and were wondering if we should be expecting many trick-or-treaters this year.   Should we stock up on candy?

It would be great if fellow Beach Drive neighbors could chime in on their typical Trick-or-Treater turn-out.

My advice is to always buy candy you enjoy…just in case!

Car Accident off Beach Drive

2010-10-20_18-24-16_591
If you're wondering what was going on tonight with the helicopters (media) and all the sirens, there was an accident off of Beach Drive on Chilberg (just north of Mee Kwa Mooks park where the condos are).

It appears there's one injury and hopefully the driver, who somehow landed his truck on it's side, is recovering well.

The West Seattle Blog has more details on their post.  By the time I made it to the scene, WSB had it covered.
