This neighbor’s scary yard captured our dog’s attention on our walk today.

Argosy Christmas Ships passing by this Friday

Argosy2008The Argosy Christmas Ships are scheduled to sail along Beach Drive this upcoming Friday, December 7, 2018.  They are scheduled to be at Lowman Beach Park at 7:55 p.m. and then arrive at Alki Beach Park at 11:40 p.m.

Currently the weather for Friday looks like it will be cold and without rain. 🙂

Just passing by… the Goodyear Blimp!

What a great way to start off the holiday. We just happened to peak out our window to see the Goodyear Blimp floating off the shores of Beach Drive. According to the Goodyear Blimp website, it is scheduled to be in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Christmas Ships cruising off the shores of Beach Drive

It was a perfect evening for the Christmas ships. The weather cooperated and we counted about 10 boats in total taking part in the cruise. What a treat to watch! We may catch another glimpse on Monday when the Argosy Christmas ships cruise to Manchester.

PS: Scupper says you may see BDB represented in the Christmas ship cruise next year. Ho ho ho!

Wind Storm: AFTERMATH!

Well, it appears we may have gotten away with one as long as a hill doesn’t slide away in the next day or so. The timing of the tides vs wind spared many a basements on the west side of the street.

Don’t tell this to Rudolph and Santa though. They were pretty blown away at the 50 knot gusts!

Asked Mr. Menashe about how the Christmas village faired last night, blessed at just a few knock-downs and the toppling of the ornamental arch over the walk way. Not bad at all!

Burn ban in effect: Beach fires prohibited at Golden Gardens Park and Alki Beach Park

The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA) has issued a burn ban for King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish counties.

For Seattle Parks and Recreation, this means that beach fires at Alki Beach Park, 1702 Alki Ave. SW, and Golden Gardens Park, 8498 Seaview Ave. NW, are prohibited until the PSCAA lifts the ban. Bonfires lit for on-shore Christmas Ship events will also be affected.

The ban, due to stagnant weather conditions and rising air pollution, was issued on November 30, 2014, and will be in effect until further notice. The purpose of a burn ban is to reduce the amount of pollution that is creating unhealthy air.

Violation of the ban can result in a $1,000 fine from the PSCAA.

For more information on burn ban please visit the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency at http://www.pscleanair.org/airq/status.aspx.

The Christmas Ships will be at Alki and cruising past Beach Drive to Lowman Beach on December 13, 2014.

5th of July Hangover

This morning my husband, also known as Scupper on BDB, and I decided to grab a big garbage bag to pick up debris from fireworks that took place at Emma Schmitz last night. I was surprised to see just how much was left behind.

One of last night’s partiers forgot an unopened can of beer in the tall grass.
