Whale Sighting

I just received this email:

"I just saw whales, not sure how many, maybe 5 heading south, around 9:50 – 10 am. When I saw them they were just south of Harbor West Condos, way out, and heading to the south end of blake island, but then some showed up closer to La Rustica!!!! Too far to tell if they were orca.  Any other reportings?"

Menashe’s Christmas Gift to West Seattle and Beach Drive

If you can't wait for my post tomorrow featuring their festive Beach Drive home, click my Flickr album from tonight.   (I'm trying to post one home each day in December from the Beach Drive neighborhood.  I would be happy to post a holiday photo of your Beach Drive home–send me an email with a jpeg photo).

Christmas on Beach Drive – December 1

Last year, Beach Drive Blog featured a home every day that was decked out for the holidays.   We will be touring around the neighborhood (if you see the person photo'd in the ad to the right of this post, with a camera, it's me) to take photos of homes to share at BDB.  You are most welcome to email me photos of your Beach Drive neighborhood home at rhonda(at)mortgageporter(dot)com.

This photo is of a Beach Drive home just south of Jacobson.

Ama Ama’s Amazing Brunch

I'm sorry it's taken us this long to visit Ama Ama Oyster Bar and Grill.  What a terrific restaurant.  We went with our three teens for brunch today.  I like the atmosphere and the food is even better.

My husband and I began our brunch with a Smokin' Mary.   She's one hot mama–maybe a little too hot for me, even though I enjoy chipolte.   We requested some fresh  Amacajuneggsbenedict raw oysters on the side–it's a terrific pairing with the Bloody Marys.

I had the Creole Eggs Benedict which was delish!  Poached eggs rest on top of smoked seafood cakes and are topped with a spicy hollandaise sauce.

My hubby enjoyed the Huevos Rancheos with scrambled eggs and chorizo piled into a bowl.

Two teens had ham and cheese omletes…no complaints were heard.  One teen had to French Toast that was heavenly.  The thick slabs of bread were fluffy and light.Amahuevos

I can't wait to go back and try dinner!  Our photos do NOT do the food justice-they're via my cell phone.

Ama Ama Oyster Bar and Grill is located at 4752 California Avenue SW, Seattle.   They open daily at 4:30 pm with a Saturday and Sunday Brunch from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Good Morning, West Seattle!

What a gorgeous sunrise this morning.  This is looking south towards Lincoln Park.

Tis the Season

I'm noticing Beach Drive homes beginning to show their holiday spirit.  Last year, I featured a Beach Drive home every day during December.  I must admit, I began to feel a little strange snapping photos of homes…wondering what the homeowners might be thinking.  What I would really prefer is if YOU could send me a photo of your decked out Beach Drive home via email.   Do me a huge favor and drop me an email to rhonda(at)mortgageporter(dot)com otherwise you just might see me (photo on the right) taking a picture of your home.

What’s up Wallenius Wilhelmsen?

Just noticed the Coast Guard (on the other side of the cutter) and Police slowly escorting the Wallenius Wilhelmsen in Puget Sound.

Choppy weather the next two days

Today, the Puget Sound marine forecast has a small craft advisory in effect through this evening with winds from the east up to 30 kt this afternoon and 3 to 5 foot waves.  High tide is a 11.8 at 11:28 am.  With winds from the east, it should be pretty interesting to watch–especially if you're by Vashon or the other islands.  The City of Seattle forecast confirms winds up to 20 mph from the east changing to the southwest later this afternoon.

Friday also promises to be windy and cold with lows in the mid 30s to lower 40s and south winds up to 25 mph…watch out Jeff Renner!  LOL
