More on the Cell Towers in Alki

Click here to read West Seattle Herald’s article from today’s paper on the possible addition of Cell Phone Towers in Alki.

Cell Towers on Alki

The following is an exerpt from an email I received from an Alki Community Council member that I thought I should share.

Verizon Wireless has applied to add 8 more cell antennas on the apartment roof immediately above the Bar-S Playfield near the end of Admiral Way. Two other companies are also applying to add more antennas to those already there — the total will be 16 NEW antennas if they are approved by the Seattle Dept of Planning and Development.

The antenna application form asks if there are any playgrounds nearby and Clearwire’s answer was "not to our knowledge." If you know of any Little League parents, or just concerned citizens in general, who might want to join us in our protest by writing a letter to DPD opposing Project # 3006268 would you tell them we are having a
meeting Sunday April 15 at 4:00PM.  Please click this link for more information (including the meeting location).

DPD’s address is PO Box 34019, Seattle 98124-4019 and the project # must be given in the letter.

Pet Food Recall

DogsJust in case you’ve missed this in the news…Menu Foods has a massive recall on dog and cat food.    Animals are dying from kidney failure due to a suspect wheat gluten.   Many of the foods are "high end" moist foods and I know this doesn’t relate directly to our neighborhood…but we all love our cats and dogs.

Here is an article from the Seattle Times and a link to Menu Foods for recall information.   There are 42 different brands of cat food and 51 types of dog food that are being recalled.   If your pet is showing any signs of sickness, please get them to your vet as soon as possible.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Dsc_0347_2Okay…he’s not a Leprechaun (he is wearing green pants)…and I did spy him on Beach Drive in a neighbor’s yard.   And I’m sure he’s good luck for us on this St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patty’s Day  officially begins in West Seattle at Celtic Swell on March 16th at 10:00 p.m.   A pint of Guinness anyone?

Don’t miss the Irish Heritage Club Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade beginning at 12:30 on Saturday along 4th Avenue in Seattle.

May your neighbors respect you, trouble neglect you, the angels protect you, and heaven accept you.
