According to my seafaring sweetie, the Puget’s job is to roam the shores of Puget Sound looking for large pieces of driftwood that may pose a hazard to navigation. The smaller boat you see in the picture goes ashore and tows the driftwood in, and the crane hoists it aboard. This time of year when the daylight hours are so short there are more boats on the water at night, and it’s very hard to spot driftlogs.
