Name that duck


I flipped through our bird book…however it’s better for decorating a coffee table than finding out what kind of duck this is.

    Hi Rhonda — I did a quick search through my old copy of “Birds of North America” and think these might be red-breasted mergansers. They’re beautiful, whatever they are!
    The Seattle Audubon Society has been very helpful to me when I’ve tried to identify local birds (the last time I called they patiently encouraged my imitation of what turned out to be Caspian Terns), though I think their office is closed on Sunday. Their number is 523-4483.
