Barking Dog Report: Coastal Flooding and Wind Advisory

Here come the wind and waves! As I write this, 7:00 am, we have the following warnings issued by NOAA:

Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm today.

Wind Advisory until 4:00 pm today.

Special Weather Statement until 2:00 pm: Rainfall and high winds today will lead to increased threat of landslides in Western Washington.

High tide is 12.10 feet at 9:05 this morning.

GALE WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON

TODAY
S wind 25 to 35 kt. Wind waves 4 to 6 ft. A chance of rain in the morning then rain in the afternoon.

TONIGHT
S wind 20 to 30 kt easing to 15 to 25 kt after
midnight. Wind waves 3 to 5 ft subsiding to 2 to 4 ft after
midnight. Showers and a slight chance of tstms in the evening
then a slight chance of rain after midnight.

Even though high tide is two hours away, we already have some splash coming over the seawall. Even though the Marine Forecast (published at 2:44 am) says winds from the south, it’s coming from the southwest (as what Wind Alert is showing).
